Frequently Asked Questions
Do your products expire?
Yes. Like all skincare, Cascadia Roots products have a limited shelf life. Because our formulas and packaging vary, storage guidance may differ by product.
Keep products tightly closed and store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Always use clean, dry hands when applying products from an open container, and never add water to a product.
Stop using a product if you notice an unexpected change in its smell, color, texture, or appearance. If you’re unsure about a specific product, contact us with the product name and batch information and we’ll help you out.
Can I use Smelly Face while pregnant or nursing?
Smelly Face contains essential oils. Pregnancy, nursing, individual sensitivities, and healthcare needs are wildly personal, so we don’t make blanket safety promises.
Review the complete ingredient list with your qualified healthcare professional before using Smelly Face, or any essential-oil product, while pregnant or nursing. If they recommend avoiding it, please listen to them. They know your medical history; the internet does not.
Do you sell your products in stores?
Yep. Most Cascadia Roots orders happen online, but you can also find a selection of our products at these Salem, Oregon retailers:
Inventory varies by location, so contact the retailer before making a special trip for a particular product.
How do you flavor your lip balms?
Our lip balms use product-appropriate essential oils for flavor and aroma. We don’t add synthetic fragrance, artificial flavor, dyes, or glitter.
Each variety is different, so check the product page or packaging for its complete ingredient list.
Where do your ingredients come from?
We source our ingredients from established suppliers selected for consistency and quality. Certified-organic ingredients are identified where applicable.
Complete ingredient lists are provided with each product so you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin—no mystery cauldron bullshit.
How should I test a new product?
Patch test a small amount before using a new product more broadly, especially if your skin is sensitive or you have known allergies.
Follow all directions and warnings provided with the product. Unless a product is specifically designed for use on the lips, Cascadia Roots products are for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes and stop using the product if irritation occurs.
Some essential oils and botanical ingredients may not be suitable for every person or situation. If you are pregnant, nursing, under medical care, or uncertain about an ingredient, consult a qualified healthcare professional before use.
Are Cascadia Roots products intended to treat medical conditions?
No. Cascadia Roots skincare is created to cleanse, moisturize, soften, condition, and support the appearance and feel of your skin.
Our cosmetic products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have a persistent skin condition, allergic reaction, infection, injury, or other medical concern, seek care from a qualified healthcare professional.
