Skincare is loud right now.
Cascadia Roots is here to help quiet some of that noise.
Every week there’s a new miracle ingredient, a new “ancestral” claim, a new person online explaining skin with the confidence of someone who has never actually worked on it.
I don’t come from that world.
I come from salons.

Three Generations Behind the Chair
My understanding of skin didn’t start with algorithms or trends. It started with growing up in my grandfather's salon, watching professionals work, day after day, on real people with real bodies.
My grandfather spent 47 years behind the chair as a salon owner. My aunt (the youngest licensed beautician in state history), my sister, and I each have well over 20 years of hands-on experience as stylists and salon professionals. That’s decades of touching skin, working with products, seeing what helps, what irritates, and what quietly causes problems over time.
Salons are not theoretical spaces.
You don’t get to be wrong in private.
If a product causes breakouts, reactions, dryness, or inflammation, you see it. You hear about it. You adjust.
That environment teaches you one thing fast: skin remembers.
Professional Education, Not Internet Certainty
I’ve also worked as a Salon Educator for an international hair brand, which means my job wasn’t just to sell products. It was to understand ingredients, safety, performance, and how to communicate that information responsibly to other professionals. Additionally, I regularly guest-taught at academies in town as a licensed instructor.

Education matters because it teaches restraint.
Good educators don’t promise miracles. They explain mechanisms. They talk about absorption, occlusion, barrier function, and long-term use. They know the difference between what feels good today and what keeps skin calm six months from now.
That mindset carried directly into how we formulate skincare.
Building Cascadia Roots
Cascadia Roots has been making products in Oregon since 2012. What started as handmade, plant-based care rooted in the Pacific Northwest has grown into a clear philosophy: skin maintenance, not skincare theater.
We specialize in 100% plant-based skincare for all skin types, with a strong focus on sensitive, reactive, and congestion-prone skin.
That focus is personal.
I’m extremely allergy-prone and sensitive to many conventional body product ingredients. I don’t get the luxury of ignoring how something behaves over time. If a formula is irritating, occlusive, or destabilizing, I find out quickly.

So we formulate like people who actually have to live in their skin.
Why Plants, Always
Plant oils, waxes, and botanicals aren’t trends to us. They’re tools we understand deeply, because they’ve been used on human skin for thousands of years and because their behavior is well-documented when chosen thoughtfully.
Plants offer specificity. Different fatty acid profiles. Different absorption rates. Different effects on inflammation and barrier support.
That nuance matters more than hype.

What the Boy King truly needed was Toasted Burn Spray, but at least he understood the healing power of aloe.
Everything we make is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and produced in sustainable facilities, with inclusive, gender-neutral language at the center. Not because it’s fashionable, but because it’s aligned with how we believe care should work.
The Bottom Line
You don’t need to be loud to be qualified.
You need time, repetition, and accountability.
My background in salons, education, and long-term formulation isn’t something I bring up to win arguments. It’s something that quietly informs every decision we make.
Trends come and go.
Skin stays skin.
And experience?
That’s the one thing you can’t fake.
